Simply Commerce invests in training new recruits

6th September 2021

Our Training Academy provides all the training and guidance required for anyone that has the desire to learn and the motivation to push themselves beyond their perceived limits.

Everyone wants a quick recruitment process, but not to the detriment of rigour! We teach our recruiters to write great job descriptions and keep an eye on bias in the narrative. The list of requirements is short and focused on values and culture.

A well-run, respectful recruitment process is crucial. We focus on feedback, punctuality and a slick, joined up three stage process. Our principles mean we always treat unsuccessful candidates with the same care as the successful ones.

Trainees undergo a thorough, professional 6-week training program that utilises both internal experiences, and external training expertise, to give trainees a real depth of knowledge of both recruitment and the Digital Commerce industry.

What does it take to be a good recruiter?

Problem solving, critical thinking, diplomacy, patience, instinct, people skills, good communication, and a methodical approach. These are all attributes that are required. But what about the softer skills, such as empathy, appreciation, authenticity, curiosity, and of course, listening.

These are all vital in building the real relationships we have with our networks. And our real relationships are one reason why in 2020, 100% of our placed candidates successfully completed their rebate period.

Our Academy aims

Why do we train our new recruits?

Not only do we do all our in-house training with Tori Foley at Learn To Be Ltd – but also part of our recruitment training programme is learning how to engage and curate an audience on LinkedIn. To help us in this we use Hoxo Media Academy - a personal branding bootcamp for recruiters. With access to new workshops every month and year round support from the recruitment industry's top LinkedIn coaches.

After the 6-week programme our recruits will have the skills and knowledge to begin their recruitment journey with Simply Commerce. But training doesn’t just stop at 6 weeks. Our recruiters are continually challenged and encouraged to hone their professional development throughout their careers.

We incorporate regular check-ins to see if they have any questions or feel there is information they still need. We also listen to our new recruits; we value their input and continue to encourage them to develop all the skills they need to be effective.

Read what our newest recruits said about their training...

"I would say that the Academy training has been priceless: from the sessions with Tori to the mentoring from Mia, without forgetting how helpful every member of the staff has been.

We’ve learned more than expected and, what is even better, we’ve been able to put everything into practice since the beginning. Also, we haven't been isolated in a glass room, but sent ‘into the wild’ with everyone else.

The trust we’ve received is immense and that’s definitely helped us build our confidence and get good results."

Adela Romero

“Having the chance to clearly understand every step of the process, the ability to ask endless questions and the opportunity to apply what we have learned in a judgement free space has been so helpful. It feels like it's given us the best chance of success within our new careers as we gradually built up a new skill set.”
